well the last few days have been filled with some ups and downs. I am not even sure what I want to write on here.
First off some things are going well! Emmy our field officer is turning out better than we could have hoped. We have a ton of freedom to be able to develop things as we like and really take control of our projects. So that is good... on that note we are organizing a talent show... hopeful attendance of around 600-1000 i would think... so a pretty large event! I am also spending alot of time working with the group called boys for change! we are doing lots of outreaches and some great learning activities with locals.
anyways we have had some issues with volunteers and being taken advantage of which have been discouraging, but whatever we move on...
also we visited an orphanage in the outskirts of mombasa and it was the first time I have felt very overwhelmed down here. The actual orphange is undetoging some upgrades... which is good but at the time the kids are sleeping in one room of a school... about 115 kids in like one class room... very sad. Anyways it was overwhelming because as much as we cheared up their day and brought them some food and drinks... the problems they face are soo big it felt impossible to do anything.
But happily I have been able to schedule an entire day for the boys club to go to the orphanage and we are gunna use the time to do lots of teaching and entertaining and try and make some difference in their day.
Ok well I am going to go I am metling this cafe is so hot

Hang in there Jes, you will make a difference as little as it might seem to you right now. You are making a difference in my perspective/attitude, not that that is really your goal. But it has, and I'm sure others have been affected who have been reading your blogs.
Hey hon! Here are our 2 cents worth this week!
C: Hi Jessie, I hope your trip is going great, it sounds like it in your blog. I really want to see you this summer again. It sounded very funny that you almost fell off your seat when the lizard came very close. Have you had any crawl on you yet? Love you Jessie :-)
E: Hi Jessie I hope you are doing good in Africa. We have an Africa game now. I really like it! We have been crosscountry skiing. It is snowing here today. I am going to French kindergarten next year. My Mom painted my bedroom dark blue, red, & dark yellow & new white trim. Love you Jessie from Evan.
T&D: Caught up in the blog today, neat adventures & some different things to get used to as well, eh? Thanks for teaching us so much from so far away. We have been on Africa 'kick' around homeschooling wise & are learning alot. Between games, books, & your blog the boys are very keen. Take good care!
Hey bud,
I had some very similar feelings when i visited an orphanage and other slum types of areas in Bangladesh. Im glad to hear that you are in a leadership position that allows you to schedule some boys club involvment though. Seems like a great way to make a small difference and install some good community values in those boys as well. Life here is more of the same, pissing rain, which is lovely. It was Laurens Bday today, the big 18, i was in Kelowna for a few days with some of my Vancouver buddies staying in a phenomenal house on the water (Friends dad who is a city planner in Vancouver haha) ill tell you more about that later. Anyways, life is pretty good right now. School might be the death of me. What a terribly gross feminism soaked way to go out, after all we've been through!! hahaha anyways man, take care

"Thanks for teaching us so much from so far away" (said Aunty Tammy). I think every one who reads this blog is feeling this way. Amazing how one persons experience ripples through to others. Pretty cool!
By the way, I was talking to Leah (from camp) the other day. Her and Jay shot a documentary in Dar es Salaam and inland Tanzania. Any questions they might be a good resource!
